In 2023, the world continues to be shaped and inspired by remarkable women who are breaking barriers, leading change, and making a significant impact in their respective fields. These women are beacons of hope and empowerment, serving as role models for future generations. From entrepreneurs and activists to scientists and artists, their stories are a testament to the strength, resilience, and determination that women possess. 

In this blog, we will introduce you to 20 inspiring women to look out for in 2023, each of whom is leaving an indelible mark on the world and paving the way for a brighter, more inclusive future.

A spectacular event and exceptional excuse to join Dr Mark K Smith (Founder and CEO of ContactEngine) at the biggest live CX event of the year. 

Mark moderated a good-humoured and lively debate on Generative AI and it's impact on the Customer Experience. Taking one side of a polar position, we had one person taking the 'for' position on, and another taking the 'against' - each statement was also then thrown over the the audience. 

Statements covered: GenAI...

1. ...will definitely help heavily regulated industries
2. ...will make for a far better customer experience
3. ...won't be used to do bad things
4. ...won't replace your job

For most statements there was a healthy mix of for and against responses – except for one. Not a single audience member raised a hand to agree that Generative AI, “Won’t be used to do bad things.”

Founded in 1999, everywoman has been at the forefront of the international movement for gender parity in the workplace. Over the past 23 years they have had the privilege of building a community of over 130 corporate partners and a network of more than 50,000 women around the world.

The Everywoman in Tech Forum brings together a community of women working in Tech, from graduates through to C-level, who come to be inspired as to what they can achieve, to be supported by their peers from around the world and to learn key career-enhancing skills and knowledge. 

A wonderful opportunity to share the stage with Selin Aria Tur (CNH Industrial) and Meena Rejendran (Tiberium) to discuss growth areas for tech careers in a post-pandemic world as part of the 'Aspiring Leaders' stream.

The worlds’ leading diversity event focused on alternatives with over 600 attendees from more than 50 countries for an unrivalled networking opportunity.

Women in Private Markets Summit co-located with the Women in Private Equity, Women in Infrastructure, Women in Real Estate and Women in Private Debt Forum. All registered attendees had access to the four forums, supporting network build out and access to Industry Leaders/ Insitutional Investors from across alternative asset classes. 

The first session of Day 2, and a great conversation moderated by Zeynep Meric-Smith (KPMG), with Sera Sadrettin-Perry (Fidelity International) and Michael Stromsoe (HSBC) and me (Macquarie Asset Management) looking at digitalisation in the Private Markets industry.

Kicking off the very first panel event for the week which expected foot traffic of over 2000 attendees, TechPassport moderated this session with representation from Morgan Stanley, Zopa, HSBC and me (Macquarie Asset Management). 

I am hugely honoured to have played a part in contributing to Nadia's  publication "Fintech Women Walk the Talk for Change.' Taking the lived experiences and broad range of perspectives from across the Fintech industry, Nadia has captured the real barriers and escalators for equality amongst our peers, colleagues and talent pipeline.

Being the first of its kind, FinTech Women Walk the Talk draws upon Nadia's seminal podcasts that feature the insights of more than 150 FinTech experts; more than 100 of which are women. It is a call to action for diversity in the workplace, showcasing the successes and presenting how to overcome the challenges. By demystifying FinTech, and highlighting its potential to drive change, this book explores how to achieve gender parity in the workplace.

The FinTech industry is used as a case study delivering content of significant interest to practitioners in finance, technology, fintech and beyond.
